Will it fit?
Your furniture measurement guide
Check the room, the route in, and the exact piece before you choose delivery or pickup. A few measurements can help you choose with confidence.
-
1
Measure your room
Measure the space where the furniture will sit. Mark the footprint with painter’s tape, then leave room to walk, open drawers and pull out chairs.
For a recliner or sleeper, check the space needed when it is fully open.
-
2
Check the way in
Measure the clear opening of every doorway, plus narrow hallways, stairs and elevator openings on the route to the room.
Include tight turns, handrails and low ceilings. Share these measurements with the store if access is close.
-
3
Match the exact item
Use the dimensions for your selected size, color and configuration. Confirm what pieces are included and which accessories are sold separately.
Ask us to confirm any missing measurements before you order. A room photo does not establish the item’s size.
Know what you’re measuring
- Width
- From side to side.
- Depth
- From front to back.
- Height
- From the floor to the top.
Assembled furniture dimensions, package dimensions and seat dimensions describe different things. Confirm which measurements you are comparing.
Check the shape and clearance
- Sectionals: confirm the facing and each side of the assembled layout. Adding individual piece widths may not give the correct footprint.
- Recliners and sleepers: confirm the full extension, wall clearance and space for a power outlet where needed.
- Beds and dining sets: check the frame or table dimensions, not just the mattress size or seat count. Include space for drawers, chairs and any table leaf.
- Appliances: check the manufacturer’s installation clearances, door swing and required connections for the exact model.
